Essex Police looking for Dogs

Donate a dog to the Essex Police Dog Unit

Police forces all over the country are currently looking for new police dogs:

  • Do you have a dog that needs a new home?
  • Have your circumstances changes so that you can no longer keep your pet?
  • Would you like to donate it to Essex Police to be retrained and be part of the team helping to keep Essex safe?
Members of the public and dog rescue organisations donate the majority of the dogs owned by Essex Police. Dogs are only accepted for training between the ages of 12-18 months. We do not normally accept puppies, litters of puppies or older dogs. All of our general-purpose police dogs are German Shepherds but no dogs are accepted if they are over aggressive or nervous. They should be bold, confident and representative of the breed and be around 23 inches at the shoulder.
